It optimizes the performance of Android devices with its kernel adjustment mod, hKTweak.

There is a new Magisk Module called hKtweaks APK that allows users to adjust Android kernel parameters universally.

The mode of action of this practice is that our talented aftermarket development community tinkers with the stock kernel source files in order to fix existing bugs or even add new features. Since the Android ecosystem is still in its development stage, custom kernels are the preferred method for manipulating low-level hardware parameters. The concept of the Generic Kernel Image (GKI) lies between the Generic System Image (GSI) and the Generic Kernel Image (GKI).

Sysfs and procfs, two pseudo file systems provided by the Linux kernel, expose a number of configurable parameters. You are essentially playing with sysfs (or procfs, depending on the parameter) if you ever use a "kernel manager" app to tweak your Android device's kernel. KTweak is based on this aspect of Android kernels and provides a universal tweaker that can be used with any Magisk Module.

When you have root access to your device, you can tune kernel parameters on the fly on Android by setting CONFIG_SCHED_DEBUG and other debugging options to true. Generic Kernel Image will eventually be available to the masses, which makes it possible to switch from a device-specific kernel source to a device-agnostic kernel source in the long run.

With the KISS principle in mind, hKtweaks APK is unlike other flash-once-and-forget "kernel optimizers". Neither a compiled component nor a shell script is present in the codebase (which consists exclusively of shell scripts).

  • Enhancing Samsung's RAM Plus feature by increasing the maximum ZRAM size and adapting it to the device's RAM size
  • The device should be updated to allow alternate ASV detection (snapdragon-specific)
  • The battery for the Snapdragon 855 has been fixed (and possibly for others as well).
  • Nodes should be autodetected by Snapdragon at the temperature
  • Other things to do: disable the GPU frequency on the main screen, clean up the code
