Story
Wayhaven was invaded by a dangerous mad-scientist vampire known as Ethan Murphy in Book 1. In search of people who don't react to vampire pheromones, which are used to control humans, he looked for people who had specific mutations in their blood.
You, the last person still carrying this mutation, were his next target.
A team from the Agency led by Rebecca, the detective's mother, intervened to prevent it. We are a supernatural organization that helps supernaturals from the Echo World who have entered our world.
The members of Unit Bravo tried to conceal their true natures from the detective. However, Murphy's attack revealed the Agency's secret, so the detective learned about the supernatural world.
Murphy then found the detective and Unit Bravo again, but the detective found Murphy first.
A painful procedure was performed on the detective by Murphy. As a vampire, he hoped to boost his abilities by injecting vampire blood into the detective.
I was successful in my experiment.
When Unit Bravo arrived for the detective, and Murphy was defeated together, the whole ordeal ended.
During the ensuing fight, the detective suffered serious injuries and awoke in an Agency facility. A human liaison position was offered to them by the Agency, and they accepted it.
With the detective's boosted blood, Unit Bravo was assigned to Wayhaven permanently to deal with potential supernatural intrusions.
Part Two of the Book
As the story unfolded in Book Two, life settled into a routine until an unexpected carnival along with a strange disease appeared on the outskirts of town.
Your detective, alongside one of the vampires, was sent in to investigate the cause of the sickness and it was discovered to have originated from somewhere within the carnival.
There, an unfamiliar supernatural who inhabits a mirror ambushed the vampire accompanying the detective. Unit Bravo's member was judged by the supernatural, but the detective stopped it in its tracks.
A supernatural race new to the Agency was discovered as a result of this encounter called Maa-used. The Agency then sent a mission to try and convince them to sign a treaty.
In the course of events, Falk, the leader of the Maa-abused, warned the detective of a possible threat. The Rogue supernatural force leader, who doesn't agree with the Agency, shows a great deal of interest in the detective.
The task was hampered by obstacles, mainly trappers. Known as trappers, these individuals steal information, agents, and technology from the Agency to sell or use for capturing other supernaturals to resell on the black market.
Sanja, a fortune-teller who was a key member of the carnival, was kidnapped by the Trappers. When a member of Unit Bravo was seriously injured by Trappers, your detective had to choose between saving Sanja and saving the member of Unit Bravo: Save Sanja or saving the member of Unit Bravo.
Throughout Book Two, factors and events determined the outcome of the treaty for the Maa-abused after these events.
